71point4, in collaboration with SACRRA and the NCR, is excited to launch the
SACRRA Data Submission Monitor

What is the Data Submission Monitor dashboard?

The SACRRA Data Submission Monitor is your window into the credit and risk industry data submission trends. These trends are based on credit and data provider payment profile file submissions submitted to the six credit bureaus that are authorised by the National Credit Regulator (NCR) to hold payment profile information. This is mandated by Regulation 19(13) of the National Credit Act (NCA) which requires credit providers to submit daily and monthly payment profile files to credit bureaus via the SACRRA managed Central Data Transmission Hub (DTH).

This dashboard provides insights into the number of records submitted per sector and product type, with each record representing a consumer account. The number of records is averaged across the 6 NCR approved credit bureaus, and this provides a high level view of credit and risk product trends across sectors.

The dashboard is updated every quarter, with the latest data being published two months after the end of each quarter. The data displayed in this dashboard is aggregated and does not contain any personal or identifiable consumer or data contributor information.

The Data Flow

In addition to SACRRA sourced data, this dashboard also includes selected statistics from the NCR Consumer Credit Market Report. This report is published quarterly by the National Credit Regulator (NCR) and provides a broader view of consumer credit activity in South Africa.

Incorporating this data allows for a more comprehensive understanding of trends across the credit industry by combining insights from both SACRRA data contributors and national-level reporting.

Please note that the data presented in the SACRRA data dashboard and the figures published in the NCR data dashboard may not always match, this is due to a few key reasons:

  • Different Data Sources: SACRRA data is based on aggregated summaries received from credit bureaus, while NCR data comes directly from credit providers via regulatory returns.
  • Timing of Submissions: The timing and frequency of data submissions may differ between the two reporting channels.
  • Scope and Definitions: The NCR report may use broader or different definitions of credit types or institutions compared to what is reported via SACRRA members.
  • Data Validation and Loading Rules: Credit bureaus and the NCR may apply different validation rules when processing submitted data.

Both data sources are valuable and accurate within their respective contexts, and users are encouraged to consider them as complementary rather than directly comparable.

Note: The dashboard has been optimised to be viewed full screen on a desktop computer.
