About the role

We are looking for an analyst to expand our consulting team. You will play a critical role supporting to our lead analysts and consultants on a wide range of research and data engineering projects. The typical tasks you may be asked to assist with include desktop research, data cleaning, preparation and quality control, development of research tools (survey questionnaires, discussion guides), data analysis (using survey, transactional, administrative or alternative data), and assistance with the preparation of reports and presentations. Over time your role will develop to include advanced data analysis using R, MySQL and Python. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and quantitative skills, great attention to detail and an interest in exploring questions using data.

Your job is not only to answer questions with the data at your disposal, but to find new datasets and to ask better questions. This role will suit someone who takes initiative, is inquisitive and a quick learner. You should enjoy conducting analysis from end to end – from preparing data for analysis through to identifying and communicating valuable insights to clients.

This is an in-office position. Travel may be required.

Key requirements and skills

This is an entry level position that would suit a recent graduate

  • SA citizen or foreign national with valid work permit
  • Degree in Economics, Marketing, Statistics, Engineering or other related quantitative degree
  • Happy to work independently as well as in a team
  • Good online research skills and the ability to analyse existing sources of information as well as find new ones
  • Must be flexible to adapt to changes in a fast-paced working environment
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including familiarity with basic Excel functions and ability to create and manipulate Pivot tables
  • Some experience in R, SQL and/ or Python is beneficial but not required
