Every Thursday the Transaction Support Centre (TSC) hosts a housing-related show on Khayelitsha-based community radio station, Radio Zibonele FM 98.2. During this time, Masi, client administrator at the TSC, speaks about different topics of interest and relevance to our clients. Community members are also encouraged to call in to ask their specific questions. You can listen to the recordings of the past shows below. Note the show is predominantly in isiXhosa.

THE RISK OF INFORMAL CASH SALES
During this interview, Masi from the Transaction Support Centre (TSC) discusses the risks of property transactions that do not follow formal, legal processes, also known as informal cash sales. Informal cash sales create huge risk for the property buyer and may result in them losing their money and property. The TSC has helped many clients avoid informal cash sales and regularise past informal transactions.

ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT THE FLISP SUBSIDY
In this third interview, Masi from the TSC is joined again by Thelma from Meerkat Financial Education and Debt Counselling, to discuss the Finance Linked Individual Housing Subsidy Programme (FLISP). The FLISP is a government subsidy aimed to help first-time homeowners enter the property market. The discussion focuses on the application criteria for the FLISP, how the subsidy works as well as the importance of having a good credit score and what to do if you don’t.

APPLYING FOR HOUSING SUBSIDIES
The focus of this second interview on Radio Zibonele was housing subsidies. Masi from the TSC talks about the qualification criteria for a free RDP house as well as the Finance Linked Subsidy Programme (FLISP).

INTRODUCTION TO THE TRANSACTION SUPPORT CENTRE (TSC)
In this first interview, Masi from the TSC is joined by Thelma from Meerkat, a financial education and debt counselling provider, to talk more about the services the TSC offers to clients including the financial and debt counselling services offered through our partnership with Meerkat.
