Economic impact assessment – National Credit Amendment Bill

71point4 together with economist Co-Pierre Georg prepared an economic impact assessment of the National Credit Amendment Bill (now Act 7 of 2019) for The Banking Association of South Africa in 2018. The analysis was based on record level credit bureau data together with recent data on lender point of presence, as well as survey data on the location of the target market of the Bill. It explored the impact of the Bill on consumers, lenders and the economy as a whole using various scenarios regarding consumer take-up of debt intervention.
